The Port of Kobe

LH2 Storage Terminal

Latrobe Valley hydrogen transported on the Suiso Frontier arrived at the Port of Kobe in early 2022, where it was unloaded into the specially-designed storage tank at the liquefied hydrogen unloading and storage terminal. The development of the innovative loading and unloading technology for liquified hydrogen at Hy Touch Kobe in Japan, was another world first for the HESC Project.

Location: Kobe, Japan

The Port of Kobe is one of the leading international trading ports in Japan.

The terminal is equipped with the largest liquefied hydrogen tank in Japan and the world’s first loading arm for unloading liquefied hydrogen from the Suiso Frontier.

The terminal facility is managed by Iwatani Corporation, the only company in Japan with experience in commercial handling of liquefied hydrogen.
